John Wayne Airport Posts September 2018 Statistics

SANTA ANA, Calif. - Airline passenger traffic at John Wayne Airport increased in September 2018 as compared with September 2017. In September 2018, the Airport served 856,688 passengers, an increase of 0.4% when compared with the September 2017 passenger traffic count of 853,545. 

Commercial aircraft operations decreased 0.7% and commuter aircraft operations increased 306.9% when compared with September 2017 levels.

Total aircraft operations increased in September 2018 as compared with the same month in 2017. In September 2018, there were 27,987 total aircraft operations (take-offs and landings), a 14.0% increase compared to 24,550 total aircraft operations in September 2017.

General aviation activity, which accounted for 71.6% of the total aircraft operations during September 2018, increased 19.3% when compared with September 2017.

The top three airlines in September 2018 based on passenger count were Southwest Airlines (300,356), United Airlines (134,098) and American Airlines (128,663).
