Unmanned Aircraft Systems (UAS) Operations
Drones or unmanned aircraft systems (UAS) can cause safety concerns in an airport environment. John Wayne Airport encourages you to operate your UAS in a safe and lawful manner. Operators should be familiar with and comply with all applicable federal, state, and local regulations. The Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) requires individuals that operate a drone to register their UAS.
Both recreational and commercial UAS operations within controlled airspace requires FAA Authorization.
Controlled airspace extends 5 miles from John Wayne Airport. Visit the FAA’s mapping resource to view the maximum altitude permitted for UAS and drones.
Register Your Drone
Register your UAS with the FAA if it weighs between 0.55 lbs. and up to 55 lbs.
