John Wayne Airport’s Post-Security Access Pass

At John Wayne Airport, we’re making it easier for you to connect with friends and family.

OC AirPASS allows non ticketed guests to enter the secure areas of the Terminal to shop, dine, view art exhibits, watch aircraft operations, greet arriving passengers, or accompany departing travelers.

Eligibility and Identification Requirements

  • All applicants must present a valid, unexpired REAL ID compliant government-issued identification document, as required by the Department of Homeland Security (DHS). Learn more at TSA’s Acceptable IDs page.
  • Physical ID must be presented; digital IDs, screenshots, or electronic forms of identification are not accepted.
  • Applicants who do not present a REAL ID compliant identification document will not be issued an OC AirPASS.
  • TSA identity verification or “Confirm ID” procedures may not be used in lieu of presenting acceptable identification for OC AirPASS issuance.

Process for Obtaining an OC AirPASS

  • Check in at the Information Booth located in Terminals A, B, or C (Lower Level, Baggage Claim) between 6 a.m. and 7 p.m.
  • Applicants are screened through an online security system. Most approvals are completed within minutes. Once approved, the pass will be printed and issued.
  • After receiving the pass, visitors may proceed to a TSA security checkpoint on the Departure (upper) Level. The pass and valid government issued ID must be presented at the checkpoint.

Important Details for OC AirPASS Holders

  • The OC AirPASS is nontransferable and valid only on the date issued. Same-day reentry is permitted.
  • The pass must remain in the holder’s possession while inside any secure area of the Terminal.
  • Visitors are allowed one personal item only. Luggage is not permitted. All OC AirPASS holders must comply with the same TSA screening requirements as ticketed passengers, including restrictions and prohibited items. Please review current TSA screening guidelines prior to arrival. Learn more at TSA’s What Can I Bring? page.
  • Visitors are responsible for all parking fees and must exit the secure area by 11 p.m.
  • Concession operating hours vary. Please refer to “Dine, Shop, Relax” for details.

Note about Minors: Minors under 18 must be accompanied at all times by an adult who holds a valid OC AirPASS. If a passenger traveling without an adult falls within the airline’s unaccompanied minor (UM) service age range, an OC AirPASS cannot be issued to any guest for the purpose of accompanying that passenger. Airline UM age requirements vary by carrier and may apply to children traveling alone under a certain age. OC AirPASS staff do not determine, interpret, or verify airline UM eligibility requirements, enrollment status, custody, guardianship, or airline authorization. All arrangements involving unaccompanied minors must be coordinated directly with the airline. Issuance of an OC AirPASS involving minors is based solely on the information provided by the requesting party and the airline’s published policies.

Appropriate Use of OC AirPASS

The OC AirPASS is intended for personal, non-business use only and may not be used to conduct business activities or substitute for authorized escort privileges. Misuse may result in revocation of access privileges and issuance of a Notice of Violation (NOV) to both individuals and responsible tenant parties.

Examples of prohibited use include, but are not limited to, commercial activity, employee escorting, vendor access, solicitation, repetitive use inconsistent with the intended recreational or personal purpose of the program, or attempts to circumvent standard airport access procedures.

Airport staff reserve the right to deny issuance at any time due to safety, security, or operational considerations.
