Communication and Healing Power Through Art and Color in John Wayne Airport Community Focus Space Exhibition

(SANTA ANA, CA) – Artist Jane Zeiger’s body of work focuses on a specific subject of interest infusing the art with colors, contrasts, patterns, and shapes. As an artist, she challenges viewers to absorb her work and reflect on the dichotomy she has imbued into her creations. Examples of her watercolor artwork will be on exhibit in the Thomas F. Riley Terminal as part of the JWA Community Focus Space from November 18 through December 16, 2021.

“Art should be a healing force for our mental awareness, and a stimulating force for our visual pleasure,” states Zeiger. Her palette consists of rich blues, rainforest greens, vibrant oranges and yellows, and splashes of reds, along with maroons, deftly interwoven into an impressionistic manifestation of her version of hidden images. Many of her pieces intend to mirror life; light and dark, action and calm, grand and insignificant.

Growing up in South Louisiana, Jane spent her youth deriving inspiration from the everyday world around her. According to the artist herself, spending time at her father’s office was one of the earliest influences on her life and art. As a physician, her father kept a variety of children’s publications in the waiting room to calm and entertain his patients. The time she spent thumbing through “Highlights for Children” inspired her to create captivating imagery that provided soothing and comfort.

Her background is rooted in teaching, having taught art in junior high school and high school, including acting as an AP Art teacher. Jane spent her college years in Louisiana and Hawaii, studying at Louisiana State University, attending the Bachelor of Fine Arts program at Louisiana Tech University, and attending the University of Hawaii at Manoa. She then concentrated on graduate studies programs at Emporia State and the AP Art Graduate studies program at the University of San Diego.

Zeiger has her art on permanent exhibit in California, including collections at the San Juan Capistrano Library bookstore and Miss Kim’s by That Boy Good restaurant in Oceanside. Past exhibitions have been showcased at the Opus Gallery in Torrance and the ARTS at Marks Garage, a collaborative gallery in Honolulu, Hawaii. She has also provided prop art for television shows on major networks and created commissioned pieces for private collectors.
